I’ve known this library since I was studying at school but I’ve never been there. Today, I really have nothing to do. I just thought that I should find some book to improve my English skill. So I decided to go to library then (map).

This library looks modern. It has 3 floors which include fiction area, child area, multimedia area, sound area, conference rooms, IT room and Share areas for reading.

And we can ( I mean a person who is not british as me) borrow some books, CDs and DVDs but we must be a membership of this library.

They need 2 evidences for applying ; passport and the document to prove your address ( I gave them my room rent’s receipt)

To be a membership is free. It’s also free if you borrow books but you must pay some money for other stuffs like CDs or DVDs.

I’m not sure that how long I’ll finish this book. It might take 3 months. - -”

After I borrowed my friend a bike for few weeks until I got first salary here. So it was time to buy my own.

Then I went to few places looking for used bike. But it’s very expensive for me. Until today, I went to Sunday Market (open 9.00 am - 2.00 pm) and there are many shops sell used bike which is not too expensive.

I walked for half an hour and considered many bikes that which bikes is the best for their price.

Finally, I found one. It was at in front of the exit of the market. Actually, I’d thought that I wouldn’t buy today.

However, I decided to buy it because its quality is very good and its price is 35 pounds which it’s not too expensive.

Buy a bike, Save the bus fares…

Since I have been here for nearly 3 months, I never had a new hair cut so my hair was the longest that I have had. It’s looked messy for me. I decided to had a new then.

Today I went to a barber shop. I was waiting 15 minutes for 2 barbers finish their customer.

While I was waiting. I was a bit worry because I didn’t know how to tell the barber.

But It was my lucky ( I think ) , one of customers had a new hair cut which is quite cool.

After he was finished and he paid money 8.50 pounds, I spoke to hairdresser that I need a hair cut same as him. And I asked the barber how to call this hair style.

He replied me “crew cut on back and side”

Umm, I got it.

It took time for 20 minutes, I think. Finally I got a new hair cut which I like it.

But… I didn’t it when I paid money !!

I asked the barber.

“How much is it ?”

“14 pounds”

“O_O”

“Really ? I thought It’s only 8.50″

“Normally it is, but your hair was very long. I spent long time.”

OK. His reason is good. I accepted. But it’s still too expensive though.

“Do you have discount for student ?”

I asked him because it show on the board price that they have discount for student.

“Yes. Actually it is 15 pounds”

” -”- “

OK. Then I open my carryall to get coins for paying.

While I was giving him money, he said

“OK, it’s 12 pounds (around 800 baht)”

Thx God, he’s such a lovely barber.

However, It was the most expensive price for a hair cut that I have paid.

This was my first time and would be last time for having a hair cut here.

Hi Everybody,

This week is very busy. I’ve got to do ton of things. As I wrote in last entry, I had an interview at West Sussex on Tuesday. And The rest of them I helped an acquaintance. She is a head chef at Sukhothai restaurant (the restaurant that I’m working as a part-time). She is setting up new restaurant, Mae Wan Thai Kitchen, at The Albion Pub.

Actually, This restaurant has been opened for few weeks but there is not famous. So It has also few customers each days ~~”. Things I have done for this restaurant were buying cell phone for getting customer’s orders, printing (designed logo by ekn8) the menu and flying.

Yesterday was a first time that we advertised through flyer. And today, there was a first customer calling us to order the take away menu. It means that there are more people know us. It begins famous, I hope.

ย้ายของเข้าบ้านมาได้เกือบอาทิตย์ เมื่อวานนี้ก็มี roommate ย้ายเข้ามาอยู่ใหม่ แต่ก็ไม่ได้คุยด้วยอะไรมาก เพราะว่าทำงานกลางคืน แต่วันนี้มีเวลา เพราะเป็นวันอาทิตย์ roommate คนใหม่ไม่ได้ไปเรียน ก็เลยได้คุยกันมากหน่อย

ตานี่ ชื่อ Mustafa อายุพอ ๆ กันเลย เป็นคนตั้งใจเรียน(มั้งนะ) เพราะเค้าบอกว่า มาเรียนที่นี่ ไม่อยากคุยภาษาบ้าน ภาษาเมือง เนื่องจากว่ามาแป็บเดียว 4 เดือน ก็เลยอยากได้ภาษาอังกฤษกลับไปเยอะ ๆ (อืม…มีอุดมการณ์และมุมานะดี)

แล้วเค้าก็เล่าให้ฟังอีกว่า โรงเรียนที่เค้าไปเรียนนั้น เกาหลี เยอะมาก คือ ทั้งห้องเป็นเกาหลีหมด มีเค้าคนเดียวที่ไม่ใช่ (เออ ดีแฮะ)

เรียนอยู่ระดับ Upper Intermediate เหมือนกัน (แต่เท่าที่คุยกัน ภาษาเค้าดีกว่าผมอีกนะ - -”)

ดูเหมือนว่าเป็นคนใช้เงินเป็นไม่ฟุ่มเฟือย เพราะดูจากของที่ซื้อมาก็เป็นของจำเป็นทั้งนั้น ราคาก็ไม่แพงมากด้วย เรียกได้ว่ามีอะไรคล้ายกันส่วนนึง หวังว่าอยู่ด้วยกันคงไม่มีปัญหาอะไรนะ

ปล.ช่วงหลังเขียนดีเลย์จากวันจริงไปเยอะ เพราะมันมีเรื่องกระจุกกระจิกให้ทำตลอด - -” ไว้ชีวิตลงตัวแล้วจะเขียนตรงวันล่ะกัน

ในที่สุดก็ได้เรื่มทำงาน full time ซักที วันนี้ไปถึงที่โรงแรมตามเวลาเข้างานปกติ 5 ทุ่ม (ปกติตรงไหน -”-)

ก็คุยกับหัวหน้ากะดึกซักพัก ทำให้รู้ว่า หนักงานกะดึกจะมีอยู่ประมาณ 4 - 5 คน สลับสัปเปลี่ยนหมุนเวียนกะกันไป แต่สัปดาห์นี้มี 1 คน ไป holidays เพราะฉะนั้น ทั้งสัปดาห์เลยต้องทำงานแทนเค้าไปก่อน คือทำ 7 วันรวดนั่นเอง -”-

แต่โดยปกติแล้ว สัปดาห์นึงก็จะได้หยุด 2-3 วัน

วันนี้เป็นวันแรกของการทำงาน และก็เป็นวัน train ด้วย โดยจะมี 2 วัน

Trainer ก็คือ ตาหลุยส์ อ่ะจึ๋ย ๆ นั่นเอง - -”

แต่วันนี้และพรุ่งนี้ ตาหลุยส์จะดูอยู่เฉย ๆ ไม่ช่วยทำอะไร สงสัยให้ถาม เห็นอะไรผิด หรือลืมทำอะไร ตาหลุยส์ก็จะมาเตือน

สรุปเท่าที่ทำมาวันนี้ก็ ยังมีหลาย ๆ อย่างที่ลืมทำ แต่ตาหลุยส์ก็มาบอก ทำให้จำได้เยอะขึ้น แต่คิดว่า 2 วันก็คงพอแล้ว

เพราะมันไม่ใช่เรื่องยากมากนัก สบ๊าย…

หลังจากที่ไปลองงานเมื่อคืนก่อนนู้น วั้นนี้ขณะทำ part time อยู่ก็มีโทรศัพท์มา…

โดยเริ่มงานคืนวันจันทร์

เอาหล่ะ เดี๋ยวรู้กันว่าจะออกหัวออกก้อย

(สรุปก็คือ ไม่ทำ housekeeper โรงแรมห้าดาว มาทำงานกะกลางคืนโรงแรมสามดาวดีกว่า -”-)

เมื่อวานซืนนี้ Search หางานใน gumtree กะว่าจะหา second job ทำซะหน่อย ตามสูตรเด็กไทย เจอ post นึง เค้าต้องการคนทำงานกะกลางคืน ได้เราก็เห็นว่า ว่างกลางคืนก็เลย reply post ไปหน่อยล่ะกัน

2 ชั่วโมงต่อมา เค้าก็โทรกลับมาบอกว่าพรุ่งนี้ให้มาสัมภาษณ์

หลังจากเรียนจบไป ก็เริ่มรู้สึกว่าตัวเอง มีเพื่อนเยอะมาก

แต่…เป็นคนไทยทั้งนั้นเลยนะ - -”

ซึ่งก็ได้มีการสนทนากันในหลาย ๆ เรื่อง โดยเฉพาะเรื่องงาน

และคุยไปคุยมา เลยจับใจความได้ว่ามันมีสูตรตายตัวอยู่

1) ไปทำงานตามที่โรงเรียนจัดหาให้

บางคนไปทำงานไหวก็อยู่ต่อ เพราะไปกับโรงเรียน ส่วนใหญ่ค่าที่พักจะถูก (บางที่ไม่เก็บตังค์เลยก็มี) อาหารพร้อม แต่ก็มีส่วนนึงที่ทนงานไม่ไหวกลับมาตั้งหลักที่ Brighton หรือลาออกแล้วไปหางานในเมืองนั้นทำเองซะเลย

2) หางานทำเอง

คือมีปฏิภาณแน่วแน่ แล้วว่าอยู่นี่แน่ ซึ่งถ้าคิดจะอยู่ Brighton ล่ะก็ เดินไทยมีสูตรตามนี้

2.1) ได้งานชั่วโมงน้อย ก็หา second job ทำ

2.2) กลางวันทำงานโรงแรม ตกดึกทำร้านอาหารไทย

2.3) Mc, KFC, Subways, Burger King และเหล่าขบวนการ Fast Food ทั้งหลาย ทำที่เดียวเลย ชั่วโมงเยอะดี

2.4) มีงานอะไรทำหมด เดี๋ยวปะติปะต่อ จัดแจงเวลาเอง

การที่เราจะอยู่ Brighton นั้น อย่างน้อย week นึง ก็ควรที่จะได้รายได้มากกว่า 100 ปอนด์ (ก็ทำงานประมาณ 20 ชั่วโมงต่อสัปดาห์)

เพราะฉะนั้นเด็กไทยที่นี่จึงสู้งานและอดทน เพื่อปากท้อง

(อ่านดูแล้ว เหมือนออกรายการวนเวียนชีวิตยังไงก็ไม่รู้ -”- )

เมื่อ 2-3 วันก่อน เพื่อนคนนึง แนะนำให้ไปสมัครเป็น housekeeper ที่ The Grand (โรงแรมห้าดาวเชียวนะ !!)

แต่พอไปถึง ปรากฏว่า หัวหน้าแผนก เค้าดันไม่ว่างซะงั้น เค้าก็เลยขอนัดสัมภาษณ์วันนี้

แต่วันนี้จริง ๆ แล้วต้องไปทำ part time เป็น housekeeper ที่นึง เค้าก็เลยบอกให้มาวันอังคารแทน ส่วนเพื่อนก็ให้มาสัมภาษณ์วันเสาร์ตามปกติ
